An MRI (or magnetic resonance
imaging) scan is a radiology technique that uses magnetism, radio waves, and
a computer to produce images of body structures. The MRI scanner is a tube
surrounded by a giant circular magnet. The patient is placed on a moveable
bed that is inserted into the magnet. The magnet creates a strong magnetic
field that aligns the protons of hydrogen atoms, which are then exposed to a
beam of radio waves. This spins the various protons of the body, and they
produce a faint signal that is detected by the receiver portion of the MRI
scanner. The receiver information is processed by a computer, and an image
is produced. The image and resolution produced by MRI is quite detailed and
can detect tiny changes of structures within the body.MRI
is primarily a medical imaging technique most commonly used in radiology to
visualize the internal structure and function of the body. MRI provides much
greater contrast between the different soft tissues of the body than
computed tomography (CT) does, making it especially useful in
musculoskeletal imaging.

Physical
Therapy
Our physical therapists manage, treat
disorders and injuries of the musculoskeletal system as well as rehabilitate
patients post orthopedic surgery. Our therapists are trained in the
treatment of post operative joints, acute sports injuries, arthritis and
much more. Strength training, hot/cold packs, therapeutic exercise, manual
therapy and electrical stimulation are often used to expedite recovery in
the orthopedic setting. Those who have suffered injury or disease affecting
the muscles, bones, ligaments, or tendons of the body may benefit from
assessment by a physical therapist.
The goal of our physical therapist is
to relieve pain, swelling, increase mobility, improve function and return
the patient to a normal lifestyle. Call
